A track day app for drivers, admin and spectators

Client overview
One Raceway, formerly known as Wakefield Park, is a renowned motorsport facility located in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. The track operates in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions, providing diverse racing experiences. In 2022, the track was acquired by Steve Shelley, founder of Deputy and a passionate motorsport enthusiast with a vision to revitalise the venue and enhance the overall driver experience. Under Shelley’s leadership, and with the tireless support of his brothers Greg and Cameron and the team at One Raceway, the track underwent significant renovations and improvements, leading to its rebranding as One Raceway and reopening in October 2024.
A key element of this transformation was the desire to deliver more than just a traditional racetrack – One Raceway wanted to provide a unique digital experience for patrons before, during and after their race day. Initially this idea started as a simple booking and management tool, but after consultation with Devika, the idea for a digital product that could be licensed globally was born.

Devika collaborated with Steve Shelley and Jiffi, a technology consultancy firm, to develop 1Racer, a web and mobile application designed to enhance the overall driver experience. This app provided a comprehensive suite of features that empower drivers to engage with the track and fellow enthusiasts seamlessly, while also ensuring comprehensive compliance with various regulations, including liability waivers, self-scrutineering, and self-management.
The Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was designed to cater to two primary user types: End Users (Drivers) and Admin Users (One Raceway Staff), as well as a third user type: Spectators. It was developed as a responsive web application, as well as an iOS and Android mobile application to provide users with a convenient and accessible platform.
End User App:
- Profile Creation and Management: Drivers can create personalized profiles and manage their account details.
- Garage and Service Booking: Effortless booking of garages and various track services.
- Event Calendar and Registration: View upcoming track events and register for participation.
- Spectator Tickets: Purchase tickets to watch the events from the sideline
- Push Notifications: Receive timely updates about track events, bookings, and important announcements.
Admin App:
- User Management: Admins can manage driver accounts, track registrations, and handle user inquiries.
- Garage and Service Management: Overview and control of garage bookings and service scheduling.
- Event Management: Creation and management of track events, schedules, and session details.
- Scrutineering: Streamline participant scrutineering with an intuitive interface
- Inventory Management: Admins can create and manage inventory that can be purchased/rented by end users
- Push Notification Management: Send targeted announcements and updates to drivers.
- Reporting and Analytics: Access comprehensive data on app usage, driver engagement, and event participation.
By focusing on these core functionalities for the MVP, One Raceway could quickly launch the app and begin gathering user feedback to inform future development phases.
