Working With The City of Innovation on Devika Evenness
Devika's Evenness VR Sensory Space becomes accessible across Illawarra, supporting individuals with disabilities in developing sensory skills.

We’re excited to announce that the Devika Evenness Sensory Space, our virtual reality sensory room, successfully launched on Thursday 14 March in collaboration with The Disability Trust. Evenness is now accessible across the Illawarra and is supporting individuals with a disability to develop sensory skills. This is a particularly significant milestone as it marks the launch of Devika’s first in-house product to market.
We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the launch of Devika Evenness. Namely, Sharon Bird MP who approved the $10 000 grant, Paul Scully MP, Club Trust Illawarra manager Gerald Farrugia, Disability Trust CEO Margaret Bowen, and Disability Trust COO Edward Birt.
Devika Evenness Supporting Sensory Skill Development
Devika Evenness was founded by the CEO and Founder of Devika, Ken Kencevski, who has developed associated products, such as Kolb, to facilitate meaningful change in the community.
“We enable people and organizations with technology in mind…Technology is our canvas and a bicycle for the mind.
“We collaborate with experts in their field and leading technology organizations to facilitate transformations and use today’s ideas and people as the essence of how we create,” Ken shares.
Empirical Evidence to Support Devika Evenness
A pilot study, from the SAGE Journals, examines the use of sensory rooms (also known as comfort rooms) in an acute inpatient psychiatric unit. Findings indicate that these rooms may lead to significant reductions in distress as well as improvements in a range of other behaviours. This is what excites us!
After reading these studies, we spoke to some local subject matter experts and took on the challenge of recreating activities that support sensory skill development in a virtual reality environment.
We are currently in the process of working with academics to undergo further research surrounding the virtual reality space and are looking forward to helping more providers adopt virtual reality sensory rooms.
