Sally Fitzgibbons is Making Waves for the Next Generation
Sally Fitzgibbons collaborates with Devika to advocate for sustainability and health awareness through innovative projects.

For most of us, our minds are most likely only occupied with one pandemic, COVID 19.
Flying somewhat under the radar is another health issue, childhood obesity, which is affecting approximatelyone-quarter of Australian youngsters who are scaling in above a healthy weight range.
In addition to making waves as a Professional Surfer, Sally Fitzgibbons is equipping children and families with educational resources and tools through the Sally Fitzgibbons Community to tackle issues relating to childhood obesity, health, and the environment.
Making Waves in the Community
During our interview with Sally, the Devika team learnt a little more about the factors that drove her to found the community.
“I feel the inspo around anything I do comes from the overwhelming amount of joy that my craft and life brings me on a day to day basis. I get this feeling that I simply want to pass on and hope others can experience it for themselves. Then comes the ultimate piece of the puzzle when people connect with like minded people whilst getting out doing activities they enjoy and this forms this powerful pocket of community. I love connecting the dots for people and showing that all this can happen by just taking yourself or family out to have a go and experience new things.”

Impact, Defined by Sally
When we asked Sally what impact means to her, we were deeply encouraged by her thoughtful and hopeful response.
“Impact to me means cutting an authentic track and trusting that the footprints you leave are long-lasting and affect people in due course.”
Experiencing the Stoke
When people give back, these efforts often have a beautiful way of being experienced and enjoyed by the ones who initiated it. Sally shares how her involvement in the community has done just that by bringing her contentment and happiness.
“One of the most memorable moments on the journey so far was the experience of bringing to life an event of Health and Fitness at Cronulla that celebrated all the things I love about being healthy, active and connected to Community. It was so epic and filled me to the brim with the most awesome energy.
“Just watching families and people of all ages that had interacted with the SF Community come together and have fun at either the Surf Comp, learn to surf, fun run, ocean swim, Ironwoman event, fitness/yoga in the park or music. Healthy food and movies on the big screen. Every part of the festival put the biggest smile on my face watching everyone having the best time embracing the value of health and wellbeing in the Community.”

Alongside Sally, our team of software developers here in Wollongong are getting ready to create an immersive virtual reality experience that takes users to new depths.
