Website development services in Australia
Built to earn their keep.
Fast, SEO-ready and built backwards from the action you want. Devika designs and builds websites in Australia for businesses that need the site to do commercial work, not just exist.
Most business websites are a brochure that happens to live on the internet
They look fine. They load slowly. They rank for the company's own name and almost nothing else. And nobody can tell you what the site returns, because nobody set it up to be measured.
A website that converts works differently. It is built around one or two commercial actions, whether that is book a call, request a quote or start a trial, and every design and engineering decision either serves those actions or gets cut.
We are a team of designers and engineers based in Sydney and Wollongong, working with Australian businesses and clients worldwide. All delivery is onshore. Over a decade we have launched more than 150 digital products, and websites are the front door to most of them.
A website is not a brochure. It is a sales channel, and it should be measured like one.
What we mean by fast, SEO-ready and converting
These three words appear on every agency website in Australia. Here is what they mean when we use them.
Fast
Speed is measured, not asserted. Google's Core Web Vitals score how quickly your page paints its main content, how quickly it responds to input, and how much it shifts around while loading. Those three measures are Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift. They contribute to ranking as part of Google's page experience signals, though relevance still does most of the work.
The commercial case is simpler than the ranking case. Visitors leave slow pages, and the ones who leave are the ones you already paid to acquire through ads or content.
Plain English. Google publishes three speed scores for every page. Passing them will not win you rankings on its own, but failing them loses you visitors who already clicked.
SEO-ready
An SEO-ready website has the technical groundwork done at build time rather than bolted on by a consultant 6 months later. Clean heading structure, crawlable URLs, schema markup, fast server responses, proper redirects and no orphan pages. It does not guarantee rankings. It guarantees you are not disqualified before the race starts.
Plain English. SEO-ready means the plumbing is right. Content and links still do the winning.
High converting
High converting website development means the site is designed backwards from the action you want. We map the path a real buyer takes, remove the steps that lose them, and instrument the whole thing with an analytics stack so you can see where people drop. Then we improve it with evidence rather than opinion. That diagnostic work is the core of our UI/UX design practice.
Web app vs website: which one do you actually need?
This is the question that decides your budget, so it is worth 2 minutes.
ㅤ
Website
Web app
The honest test is this. If your users need to log in and change something that is saved for next time, you need a web app. If they need to understand you and get in touch, you need a website.
Many businesses need both, and the smart sequence is usually website first, because it starts generating pipeline while the app is still being built. If you land on web app, the right page is custom software development. If you are not sure, we will tell you straight on a call, including when the answer is the cheaper one.
Websites explain. Web apps do. If they log in, it is an app.
Our approach to web design and development
We run design and development as one continuous process rather than a design phase thrown over a fence at a build team.
Problem first.
Who is buying, what is stopping them, and what a win looks like in numbers. This is where most projects are quietly won or lost.
Structure before style.
Sitemap, page hierarchy and keyword mapping. Every page gets a job and a target query. Nothing exists just because sites usually have one.
Design in the browser's constraints.
Layouts designed against real content and real load budgets, not against a perfect mockup that falls apart on a mid-range Android. Accessibility is designed in against WCAG 2.2, not retrofitted.
Build on the right platform.
Webflow for marketing sites your team should be able to edit without a developer. Shopify where commerce is the point. Custom where the requirements demand it. We do not have a platform we are contractually attached to.
Launch, measure, iterate.
Analytics and conversion tracking live from day one, then ongoing improvement through managed services.
Custom website development, and when it is worth it
Custom website development services cost more and take longer. They are the right call when you have complex integrations, unusual content structures, strict compliance requirements, or a scale where template constraints start costing you real money. Your tech stack should follow the requirements rather than the other way round.
They are the wrong call when a well-configured Webflow build would do the same job in a quarter of the time. We will tell you which one you are looking at before you commit budget.
Say it in one line
Custom is not better. Custom is what you use when the standard option costs more in workarounds than it saves in build.Proof
Three websites, three platforms, each chosen for the job in front of it.
NEST Property
Property development, Webflow
A Wollongong developer needed a site that showcased completed projects and positioned them as the trusted local option, without needing a developer every time a project sold. Devika Design led the UI/UX and the Webflow build. Live in 1 month, with the client's own team managing updates from there and no development ticket required for routine content changes.

Two-time UFC featherweight champion, Shopify
The official site of the two-time UFC featherweight champion, built on Shopify to carry fight stats, upcoming bouts and content links to a global fanbase, with commerce and traffic spikes around fight nights designed in from the start. 2 months, start to finish.
In UFC and in business, success is built by a team. I am proud to have the Devika team in my corner to develop my web page.

EZShip
eCommerce logistics, Webflow plus platform
A Webflow marketing site running alongside a full serverless shipping platform. Same client, two very different jobs, each on the platform that suited it. The marketing site was live and generating enquiries while the platform was still in build.
Common questions
A focused marketing site is typically 4 to 8 weeks. NEST Property went live in 1 month. Larger sites with custom integrations or heavy content migration run longer. Fast website development is a scoping decision as much as an engineering one, and we will show you the trade-offs rather than just quoting the fast number.
On Webflow and Shopify builds, yes, and that is usually the point. We hand over a site your marketing team can run without raising a ticket, along with written documentation for the components we have built.
We build SEO-ready websites and hand over clean technical foundations. Ongoing content and link work can be scoped separately or run by your existing agency, which we are happy to brief.
It scales with page count, custom design work, content production and integration count. After a scoping call we quote a fixed band with the assumptions written down, so you can compare it against other proposals on the same basis.
We are headquartered in Wollongong with a Sydney presence, and we work with clients across Australia and internationally. All delivery is onshore, by employees rather than subcontractors.
A named designer and a named engineer, with a delivery lead you can contact directly. We tell you who they are before you sign, and we tell you if that changes.
